Qwerty Chat Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
Qwerty Chat is designed with privacy as its foundation. We believe private communication is a fundamental human right.
Summary
We do not collect any personal information.
- No personal data collection
- No analytics or telemetry
- No tracking
- No servers storing user data
How Qwerty Chat Works
Qwerty Chat offers two communication modes:
- Bluetooth Mesh Chat: Fully offline peer-to-peer communication using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
- Geohash Chat: Internet-based communication using decentralized Nostr relays for geographic rooms.
Arkraft Technica does not collect, store, transmit, or monitor messages, contacts, or usage activity. All data remains on users’ devices.
Camera Permission (QR Code Scanning)
Qwerty Chat requests access to your device’s camera solely for scanning QR codes.
- The camera is used in real-time to read QR codes.
- No photos or videos are captured or stored.
- No camera data is transmitted to servers.
- All processing occurs locally on your device.
The camera is never used for background recording, surveillance, or facial recognition.
Location & Bluetooth Permissions
Location access is required by the Android operating system to enable Bluetooth Low Energy scanning. This is a system-level requirement.
- Location is processed locally to discover nearby peers.
- Precise GPS coordinates are never collected or transmitted.
- For Geohash Chat, only a coarse geohash (not exact location) is shared with decentralized relays.
We do not collect, store, or share location history.
Data Stored on Your Device
- Identity cryptographic key (stored locally in secure storage)
- Chosen nickname
- Encrypted message history (if enabled)
- Favorite peer public keys
This information never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it.
Encryption & Security
All private messages use strong end-to-end encryption, including:
- X25519 key exchange
- AES-256-GCM message encryption
- Ed25519 digital signatures
- Argon2id for password-protected rooms
What We Never Do
- Sell or trade personal data
- Create user profiles
- Require registration
- Operate centralized message storage
